Cat Agility May 16, 2006

One thing that never occurred to me is that "agility" can be a sport for cats. I always thought that agility was only for dogs.

The April (2006) article of Catnip talks about "agility trials" for cats. Cat agility is just like dogs -- cats go through various obstacle courses, and owners lead their cats around the course using a lure (a toy or feather - no food).

At first, the idea of cat agility seemed a little unbelievable to me because cats are such independent animals. But according to the article I was reading, it sounds like a good sport for cats who tend to stay indoors all day without having an opportunity to jump or run around. It also helps bonding between cats and their owners. However, some cats are natural athletes, while others are not. It depends on the cat whether he/she can be a candidate for agility or not. You have to listen to your cat's willingness first!

It was fun knowing that cats can participate in sports like agility!
