Summer is probably not over yet for pet owners.

For health-conscious people, it is often difficult to tackle flea problems without relying on chemicals. I know it gives me a headache every summer.

Have you ever seen how quickly fleas hide in a carpet? I saw a flea on the carpet one evening when I was lying around with my dog. I tried to catch it, but of course, the flea was faster than me. Carpet is a perfect environment for fleas to hide.

Vacuuming the carpeted floor thoroughly seems to work pretty well for me for keeping flea problems to a minimum. Many sources on the Internet say you should throw the vacuum filter bags after one use so that fleas won't hatch and escape from the inside of the bag. While I agree with the opinion, I always thought, "Well, it is not cheap to throw away the filter bags every time we vacuum the floor, especially if we use allergen-type filters, and also if we vacuum every few days." So instead of throwing away the filter bags after each use, this is what I decided to do... Every time I finish vacuuming the floor, I immediately take the filter bag off the cleaner and seal the hole of the bag with a masking tape. The hole is kept sealed until the next time I use the vacuum cleaner. It's a hassle to keep putting on and taking off the tape every time I vacuum the floor, but at least I'm glad I don't have to throw the bag away immediately.
