Bike Pet Carrier July 26, 2007

Bike pet carrier
Many dog owners enjoy driving with their dogs. If you have a small dog, how about taking him/her for a ride on your bike? Riding with your miniature or toy dog can be another fun thing to do in your life with your furry friend.

There is a small park in my neighborhood I enjoy visiting with my dog. I always thought that walking this tiny dog all the way to the park was a little bit of a hassle and time-consuming. Since I enjoy riding my bike, I wondered if I could carry my dog with me to the park. So I purchased a bike pet carrier.

After reading some negative reviews on the web about bike pet carriers (some dogs are afraid of motion on a bicycle), training my dog to get used to the pet carrier seemed to be an important first step. After a lot of small stages, I put my dog in the carrier and started riding my bike outside slowly. I was relieved to find that she actually enjoyed the bike ride in the pet carrier.

Although one can't travel a long distance on the bike (certainly not with a dog in a carrier attached to the bike!), it still turned out to be a fun experience for both my dog and myself.

Have a safe bike-riding this summer!
